A well-kept secret of the Ojai Valley is the wonderful area called the East End, where a small valley by Ladera Ridge is known to locals as one of Ojai’s most beautiful spots and the location of Ojai’s oldest producing olive grove. The 130-year-old grove is still in use today and has been expanded to a working ranch, where some of the best extra virgin oils in the world are being produced by Ojai Olive Oil, Inc. Seven olive varieties are grown on the Asquith Ranch, now in its 8th year of production. Three years in a row, Ojai Olive Oil products were recognized as among the best extra virgin olive oils in the world by Germany’s leading gourmet magazine, Der Feinschmecher. Visiting the working ranch in a Mediterranean setting will feel like a slice of Tuscan sunshine.

Enjoy the magnificent pacific Gray Whale (December 26th – April 5th) on its annual journey from the arctic to the warmer and shallow lagoons of California’s Baja Coast where they give birth to calves. You’ll be close enough to see the whales spout – and you’ll learn how long it can dive by watching its spout. The trip consists of a boat cruise on the waters of the Santa Barbara Channel and sometimes we’re near Anacapa or Santa Cruz Islands, depending on where we are sighting the gray whales. The Captain will narrate during sightings of marine life and all of our crew are naturalists and will talk to the passengers about whales and the other marine life frequently seen in the channel like dolphins, porpoise, seals, sea lions and pelagic birds.
